Sam Bradley rocks out the Hotel Cafe

After nearly five weeks Sam Bradley finished his musical residency at the Hotel Cafe, where he and his band played for a 45 minute set. When this announcement was made people traveled far and wide to come here him play.
I admit I was leery about seeing Sam Bradley with his new band but as usual Sam swept away all fears that may have lingered. Due to me being a complete lazy ass I didn't buy my ticket in a timely manner (ok I was at Kings of Leon on Monday and didnt think I could do back to back shows but then I remembered I'm Tammy! I can do anything!).
Normally getting into a sold out show at Hotel Cafe, isn't so scary but when they tell you @ 5pm you have a slim chance of getting in you FREAK OUT! And trust me when I say I was freakin'! Half way through Guy Sebastion's set they let a few of us in. The pressure was off, I ran to my table bought a beer and waited for Sam.

And thank goodness I went last night because it was hands down his best performance I've seen and others around felt the same way. I was fortunate to meet new fan @purplebrina17 for her first Sam show and she too was blown away.
It took us a while to catch our breath afterwards but energy Sam oozed out on stage seemed to follow me home. I was happy and energized and I didnt want it to end. If you haven't seen Sam yet I promise you he will NOT dissappoint you.

Because I'm the ultimate picture whore I had to get a picture with the band!

Two Nights with Marcus Foster

Meet Marcus Foster

All my Marcus Foster alerts are about Marcus comments regarding his best friend. Screw the friend its all about Marcus (disclaimer: I think his FRIEND is adorable but this is about Marcus)!! Hey audience attendees did you not enjoy the deliciousness that is Marcus Foster? Did they even pay attention to the way that man plays a guitar? WTF people get your head out of the sand and pay attention, I have a story about a man name Marcus, and he hails from London. He finally made a trek to the United States and played at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles for the first time this past Friday & Saturday evening. And let me tell you it was an experience I will never forget.

Ami has been waiting for Marcus to come to the Los Angeles for awhile. All through the show she was completely giddy and singing along. We both were in awe by the time we got in line to speak with him. We aked who he'd like to do a duet with but he had so many names he couldn't choose. He did say he would love to work with Tom Waits since he's his biggest influence but would be too nervous to talk. Yah Marcus we know the feeling.

I thought this picture was so cute I had to include it. He's just seems like one of those guys you would love to have a beer with and joke around.

Like most people I was unfamiliar with Marcus Foster’s music I knew he was one of the co-writers for Twilight’s Let Me Sign but other than that nothing. And instead of going to his myspace page to familiarize myself I decided to wait to see him live when he played at the Hotel Café here in Los Angeles. Still on my high from Bobby Long Wednesday & Thursday night I was excited to see this guy everyone from Larrami to the ladies from the Land of Dreamers was raving out.
How do I describe Marcus Foster?.....He is James Dean and Bob Dylan with a Chris Martin twist all wrapped into one. If you loved Rob Pattinson and his style of music on the Twilight soundtrack then you NEED TO LISTEN TO MARCUS FOSTER. After one song I realized Marcus is who RPattz patterns himself after.
From the moment he walked on stage Marcus owned it, he had the audience captivated. I loved his charismatic antics on stages. In between songs he kept the crowd with witty banter but as he perform you were entranced with his words. I have to say most of the time I was just staring at his hands as he played the guitar and on Saturday night he played the piano for his Tom Waits cover. Yeah my mouth just about fell open at that point.
I'm sorry have we met? I'm Tammy and I'm a picture whore. Of course I got another picture with Marcus. I wanted to go home have a beer and pretend I could play the guitar just like him but we all know I can barely play a chord. This picture will keep me tide over until I see him next time. By the time the ladies from Twilight Sisterhood left we knew we were fans (sadly this fan lost her new Marcus Foster CD due to her drunken ways after the concert! URGH!).

A night with Bobby Long

Even though I saw Bobby Long during last spring and thought he was very talented....ok I'll be honest....I thought he was EXTREMELY HOT & talened I was shocked to realize how much I just missed his music. Yes I have the CD but there is NOTHING like watching the man in person on stage with just his guitar. He has this intensity while he plays and I wonder if gets lost in his own world then suddenly remembers he needs to sing. Someone at my table stated its hard to believe he's in his early 20's. I just replied its because he's an Old Soul, he's not like most people his age. And that is the best way to describe Bobby and his music.

I remember reading a review of Bobby's cd Dirty Pond Songs and the reviewer said it wasn't your typical lyrics but more like musical poetry....Never thought of it that way but kind of true. And with that review fresh in my mind I watched Bobby in whole new light and to say I was memorized is an understatement. I sat there thinking each song provokes some emotion from me whether remembering a lost love when I hear 'Who Have You Been Loving' to "Dead and Gone" to remind me life is too short and be happy and appreciate those in my life. Everyone hears something different, I just appreciate his words.

And sometimes it shocks me that not everyone knows who Bobby Long is. I know I'm thinking too far ahead. I met several ladies who were seeing him for the first time and were estatic to finally see him and could barely contain themselves. I did meet someone who say him play in London was happy he was here while she was vacationing in Los Angeles. Another lady from that group traveled from from San Francisco area to see him and planned to see him play later in the week. I wish I could see him play in SF or ATL.
Me and Bobby after he signed my shirt.

No I'm not angry nor do I walk around with my mouth wide open. I was actually joking around with Bobby.as he was writing on my back I said 'I feels like I'm getting a tattoo', I turned to look at him and asked if he had any tattoos and he would neither confirm nor deny such a thing.

"Tammy I like your shirt, Bobby Long" ::sigh:: okay when I saw Bobby I told him I bought this particular shirt just for his concert, it was an aged white tee with the british flag from Forever21. I asked him to sign it since I will never wear it again. He gave me a peculiar look and nervously aksed where do you want me to sign it? I told him where ever he felt comfortable. (I really didnt want him to be uncomfortable and would have NEVER asked him to sign in the boob area, so NOT me) He was a good sport about the signing my shirt.
Vanessa and Bobby Long

Vanessa buys one of Bobby's new shirt and asks him to sign it (can I say the new merchandise is HELLA CUTE!! They have a tote bag I need to get for $10) and of course he was cool and started signing when A.D.D. Cyn strolls over and says to Bobby "She likes to be called Sexy Bitch", he grinned and said 'Yeah?" and proceeds to write Sexy Bitch on her shirt. Gotta luv the guy!

The Final result...it's so CUTE!! I loved it when I saw it! So don't go copying! Vaness is the ORIGINAL SEXY BITCH!!

All in all the night was good. I got to spend time with my sisters from Twilight Sisterhood and the ladies from Land of Dreamers, even TS Blogger WearingWords made an appearance but had to dash to the 100Monkey show arcoss town. I'm going to catch Bobby's final show here in Los Angeles, then head down to the 100Monkey show @ the Viper Room. If you're at either show please stop me and say hello!

Sam Bradley Sings the Sea Blues in LA

Okay, better late than never...I got to see Sam Bradley's show last week and he was absolutely amazing! I've watched the videos, I've listened to the songs on his MySpace page over and over (as I am at this very moment), but seeing him live blows all that out of the water. He's such an engaging performer that he creates a very personable experience for the listener. It was an intimate show as Sam performed solo without his band The Men. He's comical and his beautiful voice and musical skills run the gamit of genres from an almost rockabilly sound on 'Soho Whores' to blues with 'Is Love Enough'.After a half day at work, I flew from Vegas to LA and headed straight to the Hotel Cafe with my girl Tammy. We waited in line for 5 1/2 hours before finally heading in to see Sam perform. After the show I picked up a t-shirt and postcard for him to sign. Upon exiting the venue it was sprinkling slightly, but that didn't stop Sam from meeting and greeting his fans.
He's very tall, extremely handsome and has a great personality. I'm not sure what I was yammering about here, but apparently he's a good actor, too, as he genuinely looked like he enjoyed whatever the hell it was. He was adorable in his Pepaw sweater (Apples & Oranges reference if you're a fanfic reader, Sam); which was very soft by the way. Although I was completely sober, I'm having some weird flashback that I may, or may not, have rubbed his back. God help me if I did!

Sam plays his final show in LA tonight at the Whisky, hopefully he'll have a better experience there than Bobby did. He's scheduled to take the stage at 8:15pm. The Twilight Sisterhood will be representing and I hear that some of the Letters to Twilight ladies including themoonisdown will be in attendance, as well. I know you'll all have a great time!

Here's a small taste with Sam's version of 'Never Think' (sung by Robert Pattinson on the Twilight soundtrack) called 'Too Far Gone'.

Sam Bradley rocks out Hotel Cafe

After weeks of nagging from fellow blogger Larrami I finally sat down and listened to Sam Bradley's music on myspace, after listening to Soho Whores I knew I was in love (yes I should listen to Larrami more often, she turned me onto Bobby Long!). I guess the best way to describe his music is accoustic rock meets blues and jazz (faintly) with a swig of country. Yeah he's basically all rolled up into one and it actually sounds good. So after putting his music player on repeat during my work day I was excited to finally see Sam play live at Hotel Cafe.
Now you're probably wondering why you know that name (Sam Bradley) well he was one of the co-writers for Rob Pattinson's 'Never Think' and he's out to prove he's more than a famous person's best friend.

Before the show Sam met up with a few members from Land of Dreamers for a meet & Greet and photo op. He didn't just do the usual stand next to me cuz I'm HOT pose, he actually participated in funny poses and joked around for a few minutes. It gave me a chance to just observe Sam and he was extremely open and friendly. Once he was done with the ladies from LoD I was able to get a pic with him (sorry I'm not that fun it was a simple pic). Standing next to him I realize he's tall (YAH!) and he's very nice so I have to like him, right?

The show over all was GREAT!! And yes I'm gushing because the passion that flows through him makes you want to bottle it up and pray you will be just as passionate about something in your life (ok maybe that's just me but still EFFING PASSIONATE!). Two things in the show that sticks out for me has to be when he brought his mom, singer Lee Lindsey out on stage with him. OMG!! When I first saw his mom arrive I really thought it was his older sister. She's a beautiful blonde woman with a hippy feel to her and just so laid back. Then the woman has a voice that reminds me of Melissa Etheridge meets Jewel. Very talented and if you have a chance to pick up one of her CD's, you will not be disappointed!
My second favoite moment of the night had to be when he played TOO FAR GONE! Oh it was amamzing how the crowd sang along. LOL

Now don't get it twisted Sam Bradley is not riding Robert Pattinson's coattails, its his talent pure and simple. I hope he has a long and wonderful career! Last night was simply the best way to end a 3 day holiday weekend!

Sage and The Dills @ Hotel Cafe

Tonight I went to see Sage and the Dills play at Hotel Café for the first time. As a Twilight fan I’ve heard of Sage and some of my TS sisters have even gone to the show (I was @ 100Monkeys!) and just raved about it so this time I wanted to see for myself. Sage and Spider completely rocked the place, my favorite song has to be Dawn and I’m not coming home tonight (I’m pretty sure this title is incorrect!). Sage and The Dills opened with ‘Tall girl in a small space’ and as the night progressed I realized my friends were right Sage is a very talented singer and with Lydia aka Spider they're an unstoppable duo. Sage also had YaYa join her on stage (YaYas is a kick ass drummer for Sandman and sometimes she's backup vocals and tamborine for 100Monkey's stage) and her best friend New Moon's Nikki Reed playing tamborine and back up vocals. But that's the thing about the Dills, they love to bring new people out to jam with so you never know who's going to join her on stage.

The Dills have a very engaging show that never leaves you bored. I hope to catch more shows in the future. Sadly the CD's sold out so I can't drown myself in their music.....so I guess this means I can watch videos all day!! LOL Since Hotel Café doesn’t allow flash photography (I will say they were cool tonight) I took mostly video.
As I looked around the crowd people were just entranced by her charismatic way and sultry rocker voice, one the things I loved the most is that she wasn't afraid to interact with the crowd or while singing look you dead in the eye and then you suddenly feel like you're the only person in the room. I also saw Kristen Stewart's boyfriend Michael Angarano and Ryann Starr (bow tie girl from the first season of American Idol) were in th audience.
If you have a chance check out their myspace page: Sage & the Dills.

Bobby Long wows fans in L.A.

When fellow blogger Larrami first mentioned the Bobby Long concert I thought sure it will be cool but wasn’t into him. I knew he was friends with Twilight's Robert Pattinson but didnt know too much about his music. For weeks she’s has been singing his praises and you felt that passion with each Bobby Long blog she’d post. Well, Larrami you’ve made me a believer!! Normally going to a Myspace page to listen to artist music I usually turn it off after 2 songs. Bobby Long is the first time in a LONG time where I put the player on repeat and listened intently while working. When I heard ‘The Bounty of Mary Jane’, I knew I was officially in love.

Even though Bobby is a one man show he has the energy of 5 person band, with his soulful voice and guitar skills you're simply mesmerized (okay very sexy smile!). One thing I absolutely love about Bobby Long is his sincere gratitude for everything that’s happening to him. Sometimes he just seems shocked that people are really enjoying his music. I noticed he's very shy but he is at his best on stage, his confidence and passion radiates with each song. And literally I think some people actually swooned...wait that was me!! The Friday night show at the Whiskey….well lets say the Whiskey blows monkeys balls and Bobby seemed very irritated but put on a great show. But on Saturday night he seemed more at ease and was even joking with the crowd. One thing that continued to come up is that fact he’s only eaten sandwiches and chocolate. I hope someone will send him a pizza.

After the last show at Saturday at Hotel Café I had chance to get a picture with him but due to making him laugh he’s not looking at the camera….oh well! But I did tell him Mary Jane was the song that made me a fan. He’s smile his cute bashful smile and said thank you and thanked me for the support.

So sit back and enjoy this video from Saturday’s show.

I have to thank greeneyelene for the video from Saturday's Hotel Cafe performance!

Bobby Long's Performances Stir the Soul

Oh, what a night! Wait isn't that a song? Yeah...sorry for the Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons reference, but it really sums up last night in L.A.

I flew in from Vegas to catch Bobby's gig last at the Hotel Cafe last night in Hollywood. After introducing myself to his manager, Phil "Sweet Lips" Taylor, I was taken back to meet Bobby Long himself. Both of them were so gracious and personable. Bobby is a very humble young man that truly appreciates this gift of being able to do what he loves. The fact that more and more people are enjoying his talent is just icing on the cake for him.

Bobby took the stage to a sold out crowd and certainly did not disappoint. His music and soulful lyrics are moving and his passion radiates. He wowed us with a great set including 'Left to Lie' which was recently released on iTunes, a new one called 'Two Years Old' and my personal favorite 'Dead and Done'. Bobby also proved himself to be quite the comedian as he engaged the audience. Unfortunately, some were a little more engaged than appropriate.

I was asked to assist with t-shirt and CD pre-order sales after the show. I'm not sure how much help I really was to the guys, but it was truly an honor. I want to thank my special friend - you know who you are - for trusting me enough to help out. ;o)

Although, I never got a picture of myself with Bobby (I know...Brainfart!), I do have some photos of him performing. Sorry they're so dark, flash photography wasn't allowed. Our very own Kelley's blog has her review and photos, as well.

And, as always, don't forget to stop by Bobby's MySpace page, listen to his music, have a look around and be sure to add him as a friend. Things may feel a bit like a runaway train for him right now, but this is only the beginning...we WILL see great things from him in the future.

The Twilight Sisterhood thanks Bobby for an amazing show, Phil Taylor for sharing this gem with us and the Hotel Cafe for a great venue!
