Tune in to Vamp Radio TONIGHT!

Phil "Sweet Lips" Taylor, manager of the amazingly talented up-and-comer, Bobby Long, will be on Vamp Radio again this evening. He gives an excellent interview, so be sure to tune in at 5 pm.

Details: Phil Taylor wanted to be involved in the music business since learning to read the sleeve notes on the back of Beatles records when he was about 4 years old. He decided he wanted to be a music manager by the time he was about 13. Having moved to London as soon as he could, he met the song writer Tim Rose in a coffee shop on the Kings Rd and followed the advise Tim proffered. "Just get on with it kid, find some one who can write songs and sign them". At around this time Phil started working as a personal assistant for an act signed to BMG in the UK. Vicki Wickham managed the act and the two have been friends ever since. "Vicki is the most helpful person I know. She was there with the great managers of the 60's and 70's and helped shape popular culture as we know it, and she is still at her desk offering me her wisdom now!" Phil set up his production company Up All Night Music in 1998 and began promoting bands and acoustic acts in and around London. "At that time it was all that awful dance music and no actual musicians could get a gig, so Phil bought a little PA system and started booking acts hisself. Pretty soon He had 6 nights each week and an office in Denmark St. Phil thought he had finally arrived, He was 23!

What happened to Bobby Long?

Although tonight's Vamp Radio interview with Bobby Long was cut short, it was fantastic. He is such a beautiful soul, humble, humerous, kind and considerate. Talent is obviously in his genes as he said that he comes from a very musical family. However, he himself didn't even learn to play guitar until he was 17 or 18, nor did he start singing until he was 20. He sure has come a long way in a very short period of time!

Unfortunately, Bobby had to jet early because they were closing down the building he was in and about to shut off the power. He promised he'd reschedule and we'll be sure to keep you updated on that when it comes around. He jokingly said he hoped he was as entertaining as his manager, Phil "Sweet Lips" Taylor. And to quote him again, just hearing his beautiful voice was "wicked".

Thanks, Bobby!

Bobby Long on Vamp Radio

Ok...so it's no secret around here that I am a HUGE Bobby Long fan! My status on both my Facebook and MySpace pages praise him and his talents, I've sent out bulletins asking for people to friend his MySpace page, we've blogged here about him several times and I'm traveling to Hollywood next month just to see him perform at the Whisky.

Bobby was scheduled to be on Vamp Radio last Monday. However, due to an unexpected event he wasn't able to make it, but his manager, Phil Taylor, filled in nicely sharing how Bob met Rob.

Excellent News: Bobby has rescheduled to be on Friday, March 27th at 5:00 pm. Please show Bobby the love he so deserves by tuning in!
