Sam Bradley Talks to J-14 About Twilight, New Moon & Pal, Robert Pattinson

J-14 magazine recently sat down with Sam Bradley, co-writer of the song 'Never Think' sung by his longtime friend, Robert Pattinson, in Twilight. Here are a few tidbits. More can be found on their website and for the full interview pick up the mag on newsstands now.

J-14: Did you always know that you wanted to do music as a career?

Sam: Yes. I think when I had written my first song, I was ready. I was like, "Oh my god! I love this. I want to do this for the rest of my life." It hasn't really become a career until fairly recently, but I've been given a gift, a platform with a phenomenon here that is Twilight. It's a great thing to be attached to.

J-14: Have you written anything specifically for the sequel?
Sam:There's nothing specific, but I write about a lot of different things so there are things that may fit.

J-14: What has it been like to see Rob go through all of this craziness?
Sam: I think he deals with it like anyone else would. He's a blessed man right now and he's enjoying himself, but it's his job and this is his life that he has chosen.

Here's Sam singing one of my favorites 'Sea Blue'.

Sam Bradley Sings the Sea Blues in LA

Okay, better late than never...I got to see Sam Bradley's show last week and he was absolutely amazing! I've watched the videos, I've listened to the songs on his MySpace page over and over (as I am at this very moment), but seeing him live blows all that out of the water. He's such an engaging performer that he creates a very personable experience for the listener. It was an intimate show as Sam performed solo without his band The Men. He's comical and his beautiful voice and musical skills run the gamit of genres from an almost rockabilly sound on 'Soho Whores' to blues with 'Is Love Enough'.After a half day at work, I flew from Vegas to LA and headed straight to the Hotel Cafe with my girl Tammy. We waited in line for 5 1/2 hours before finally heading in to see Sam perform. After the show I picked up a t-shirt and postcard for him to sign. Upon exiting the venue it was sprinkling slightly, but that didn't stop Sam from meeting and greeting his fans.
He's very tall, extremely handsome and has a great personality. I'm not sure what I was yammering about here, but apparently he's a good actor, too, as he genuinely looked like he enjoyed whatever the hell it was. He was adorable in his Pepaw sweater (Apples & Oranges reference if you're a fanfic reader, Sam); which was very soft by the way. Although I was completely sober, I'm having some weird flashback that I may, or may not, have rubbed his back. God help me if I did!

Sam plays his final show in LA tonight at the Whisky, hopefully he'll have a better experience there than Bobby did. He's scheduled to take the stage at 8:15pm. The Twilight Sisterhood will be representing and I hear that some of the Letters to Twilight ladies including themoonisdown will be in attendance, as well. I know you'll all have a great time!

Here's a small taste with Sam's version of 'Never Think' (sung by Robert Pattinson on the Twilight soundtrack) called 'Too Far Gone'.

Robert Pattinson & Sam Bradley pen new music together

Amanda chats once again with the beautifully gifted Sam Bradley. Be sure to read more of the interview here.

I asked Sam if he and Robert Pattinson were up to anything together in Vancouver and he said that "yeah, we've written a really good song.”

About his up-coming album, there is no official release date, but what we can know, says Sam, “well, there are some songs that I have redone, like ‘Too Far Gone.’” Also, the album will feature guest writers such as Robert Pattinson (for his co-authorship of ‘Too Far Gone’) and Sam’s mother, whose song, Sam says, “she wrote with a few other people in England.”

So, as Sam Bradley’s list of up-coming tours continues to grow, and as the album nears completion, his fans have a lot to look forward to this year. After tomorrow's show in Vancouver Island, Sam will be appearing in Toronto next week (April 16th) followed by his two-day stint in Nashville, Tennessee alongside none other than the incredible Bobby Long. An up-to-date list of Sam’s confirmed shows are listed below, but fans should keep an eye on Sam Bradley’s MySpace and Twitter pages to stay current.

Sam Bradley's Beautiful Soul

My good friend and Examiner, Amanda Bell-God love her-has yet another amazing interview. This time she spoke with Sam Bradley, co-author with Robert Pattinson of 'Never Think' from the Twilight movie/soundtrack.

I asked Sam what inspired him to become a musician. Quite candidly, he stated that he draws a lot of his inspiration from his close friend Marcus Foster. Says Bradley, “It was a few things . . . Marcus Foster is a big inspiration because he was always, he started playing music really young, and I’ve sort of admired him. . . . I started late, but I always love listening to him and watching him.” Adds Bradley, there was a, “and kind of, in the healthy sort of way, competitive thing as well. I wanted to be as good as him. I wanted to be able to do it with him.” Another very personal source of inspiration to Bradley, says he, is “also my mum. She’s a singer/song-writer as well.”

I asked Sam if there was a point that he might be able to think of when he could take a step back and say “I’ve done what I wanted to do.” Beautifully put, Sam said

You mean, when I’d feel accomplished? In my life, I don’t really. I’d really like to think or hope that that day won’t come, especially musically… I mean, on a personal level, when I have a beautiful wife and children and a great family, you know, then I will, maybe then, on a personal level, have everything I’ve dreamed about, but I don’t think musically that day will ever come. I want to just keep creating, and I don’t think I’ll ever write my best song.
Though Sam Bradley may never write his best song, he does have a favorite, thus far. “Pretty Boy,” which “noone’s heard . . . yet,” says Sam, will be on the album he is currently completing.

When I asked Sam to pick one word to describe his personality, he said “hopeful. I like hopeful.” I also asked him if there was a question he’d yet to hear in an interview that he’d like to, he said “What’s my shoe size?” The answer? “Twelve,” he says with a clever chuckle.

You can check out the rest of Amanda's interview here and be sure to stop by Sam's MySpace page, add him as a friend and show him some love.

Sam Bradley: his music, Rob & the Twilight phenomenon

Celebuzz got a great interview with Robert Pattinson's good friend and "Never Think" co-writer, Sam Bradley. Here are a few bits and pieces.

His good friend since the age of 12, Robert Pattinson was in attendance. Although Pattinson remained out-of-sight from the general public during the show, his presence was certainly felt by Bradley.

"Every time I made a mistake, I kept looking over," Bradley tells Celebuzz. "At one point I walked off-stage and just started laughing." Bradley was playing the cover of "Man's World" by James Brown, ran into some problems and left the stage to pick up his folder. He looked up at Pattinson hanging out in the stage wings, out-of-sight. "I just started laughing," says Bradley. "And he was just smiling back."

It's been quite a journey from a late-night music sessions that led to "Never Think", to Rob bringing it to the attention of the Twilight film-makers once he landed the part of Edward Cullen. "I remember I was walking to a gas station to use the bathroom," says Sam. "And I got a phone call from Rob saying a lawyer is going to call you in a second. The song is going in the soundtrack. I was crossing my legs and skipping. I guess I was skipping about both reasons."

"I'm very lucky to be part of this phenomena," he says. "And they don't want me to take my clothes off."

As for the Cullen boy that many would like to see without clothes, Bradley says, "There's no formula for handling this. But he's handling it very well."

Head on over to their site to read the rest.
